AION 2 silently closes with Exit Status 1 (0x00000001)
You reach the region/server/character selection lobby fine and it stays stable indefinitely. But after picking a character and pressing Start Game, the client disappears instantly — no error message, no crash reporter window — either while the world is loading or within about 30 seconds of entering the map.
This is a different crash from the one right after the NCSoft logo (see the 0xE0000012 page) — this one happens later, after you've already reached character select. One player ran six separate attempts through Process Monitor: every session terminated the same way, and the crash stack contained nothing but the game's own processes (Aion2.exe, NCGuard, NCTinyUpdater) — no third-party overlay, hook or driver was present in any of them. NCGuard's own logs show no violation or flagged file for any of these sessions, which rules out the anti-cheat false-positive pattern seen with 0xE0000012. A separate Global-client report adds the most useful diagnostic so far: the same PC failed to enter the world through both the Steam and PURPLE Global clients, while the Taiwan client worked on that same machine. A file repair, fresh drivers, repaired runtimes, a clean boot and a full Windows reset all changed nothing. If that pattern holds, it points at the Global build or its region rather than at anything on the player's side — which also means there is nothing local left to try.
What to try
- 01If you have access to another region's client, try it. One player found the Taiwan client entered the world on the same PC where both the Steam and PURPLE Global clients failed. That is a diagnostic rather than a fix — most players will not have a second region available — but it is the one test that distinguishes a broken build from a broken machine, and it moves this off your list of things to keep reinstalling.Reported
- 02There is no confirmed fix. A clean Windows reinstall (via Cloud Download), a clean GPU driver install, the latest chipset drivers, repaired Visual C++ runtimes, disabling all non-Microsoft services and startup apps, testing with a single monitor and basic peripherals, testing on a mobile hotspot instead of home internet, and resetting AION 2's local config, shader cache and AppData were all tried by one player in detail — none of it changed the outcome.Unconfirmed
