On a Windows Server Core machine, enshrouded_server.exe starts and silently exits after the 1.0 update, with no new logs and no running process.

This is about the Enshrouded dedicated server on Windows Server Core, not the game client on your PC. The server exits with Exit code: -1073741515 (0xC0000135), which Windows uses for a missing DLL, and one poster saw DINPUT8.dll reported missing. It is on the server host's side, not a Keen Games outage.

In an r/Enshrouded thread from October 16, installing the Server Core App Compatibility feature and rebooting got the servers running, per the poster. That is one thread with three comments.

    Install the Server Core App Compatibility feature, then reboot (one report)

    On the Windows Server Core machine, run in PowerShell Add-WindowsCapability -Online -Name 'ServerCore.AppCompatibility~~~~0.0.1.0' and reboot. The original poster wrote "This seems to have resolved the matter… I ran this command today, rebooted after and servers up and running." Microsoft's own documentation (Install Server Core Application Compatibility Feature on Demand, learn.microsoft.com) gives the same command for this optional feature. Microsoft does not mention Enshrouded, so the link to this error rests on the one thread.

    Note: this applies to dedicated servers on Windows Server Core

    This fix is for people running the dedicated server on Windows Server Core. If the game client on your PC crashes, it does not apply. We found no Keen Games statement on this error.
