AION 2 0xE0000027: Cheat Engine & NCGuard crash fix

Uninstall Cheat Engine (and WeMod if you have it), delete or rename any leftover Cheat Engine folders, then restart the PC. NCGuard flags it even when it isn't running. At least six players in one Steam thread said this fixed it, and an r/Aion2 thread reports the same. A second r/Aion2 poster with an NCGuard crash (Aion2 keeps crashing, 7 October, no code quoted) was told to check for Cheat Engine and wrote "deinstalled cheat engine and it is working". It doesn't work for everyone: two players in the Steam thread never had Cheat Engine and still got the error. One Reddit commenter also removed the leftover Cheat Engine driver with Kernelmoduleunloader.exe (single report).

One commenter in the r/Aion2 thread wrote that "disabling windows test signal" fixed their 0xE0000027; the original poster thanked them and added it to the post. The reply does not give a command. It most likely means Windows test-signing mode, which you can turn off from an administrator Command Prompt with bcdedit /set testsigning off, then reboot. That reading is ours, not the commenter's, and it is a single report.

Another commenter in the same r/Aion2 thread wrote "i removed my mouse after opening the game and actually opens"; the original poster was glad it helped. A similar unplug-at-launch workaround helped players with other AION 2 crashes (see the UE-AION2 crash page). It is a single report here.

If you run Process Lasso, close it or remove it entirely. Two independent players — in two separate Reddit threads — each confirmed this fixed their 0xE0000027 crash, one explicitly identifying it as the fix in a screenshot-verified report.

Close MSI Afterburner, overlays and RGB software before launching. A Reddit commenter said this worked, with no confirmation from the original poster. If you run ASUS Aura Sync, see the Aura Sync crash page.

If you run System Informer, close it. One player recently reported this fixed the crash for them, but it's a single report so far.

Check Windows Task Scheduler for an EmptyStandbyList task and disable it. The original poster in the larger thread reported success after disabling one, but nobody else in that thread confirmed it independently.

Check Task Manager for a second, duplicate Aion2.exe process running in the background and close it. One commenter reported this fixed their crash, but it's a single, unreplicated report.
