AION 2 "Unable to Connect to Login Server" — old Taiwan reports

Trying to log in shows "Unable to Connect to Login Server" (sometimes paired with a "no active connection" state) and the client never gets past it, no matter how many times you retry.
Read this one carefully before trying anything in it. Every report behind this page is from AION 2's historical Taiwan service, not the global PC version — Early Access for that launches September 30, 2026. Old Taiwan routing workarounds are not guaranteed to still work, or to apply at all, once the global service is live on its own servers. It's also the most conflicted thread found in this research, and that needs to be said plainly rather than buried. The two "fixes" that circulate for this exact message are both gaming VPN products, and their vendor is not a neutral bystander: an account for ExitLag replied directly in the main 25-comment thread behind this page, an ExitLag-branded account replied in a related "closes after splash art" thread, and ExitLag accounts showed up again elsewhere offering a trial and clarifying their product. Searching this exact error phrase also turns up mostly VPN sellers' own blog posts. None of that makes the underlying reports false — the original poster of the main thread did say ExitLag itself restored their access, and a second player in the same thread separately said they needed a Taiwan-region VPN exit specifically — but it does mean neither should be read as an independent, disinterested recommendation, and nobody from NCSoft confirmed either one. Two more specific ExitLag routing tips showed up in smaller threads and are weaker still. A manually-routed setting (switching ExitLag from automatic to manual) fixed it for exactly one player, who later said in the same thread that routing through PURPLE wasn't even necessary for their case — so treat that as unreliable. A specific "Aion 1 / Tokyo 3" route was reported working by one original poster with a claimed 8–9 legion members also using it (not independently confirmed here), but that same poster and another user later said it stopped working after a maintenance pass — so this route should be treated as obsolete, not as a current fix.
