AION 2 tutorial disconnects on Shift/jump (rubber-banding)

During the early tutorial, pressing anything other than the attack button — Shift (sprint) or the jump key in particular — causes rubber-banding, dropped attacks, and then a full disconnect. There is no error code, just the connection dying.
This is a recent report from the current global playtest, not an old Taiwan or Korea issue, and it's the best-corroborated fix found anywhere in this research: four separate players independently confirmed that switching their character's faction from Elyos to Asmodian stopped it, and the original poster of the thread appears to acknowledge it worked for them too. No developer or community manager reply turned up in the thread, so NCSoft has not acknowledged the bug or the workaround. Be clear with yourself about what this is: switching faction is a workaround that happens to sidestep whatever is going wrong in the Elyos tutorial's netcode, not a fix for the underlying bug. It doesn't tell you what's actually broken, and it costs you the faction choice you may have wanted. If NCSoft patches the real cause before or during Early Access, this workaround should stop being necessary — but as of this research there's no confirmation that's happened.
What to try
