About ARC Raiders's servers

ARC Raiders is a PvPvE extraction shooter developed and published by Embark Studios (a Nexon subsidiary since 2021), released October 30, 2025 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GeForce Now), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with crossplay and cross-progression live at launch through the Embark ID account system. Squads of up to three raid the surface world above the underground hub of Speranza, fighting hostile ARC machines and each other before extracting with their loot — Steam’s concurrent player count has run in the tens of thousands (24,000+ at last check) months after launch.

Embark ships frequent Store and Live Updates (patch notes on the Steam news hub for app 1808500 show a roughly weekly cadence through September 2026) and runs content in numbered “Expeditions,” the 5th of which was live as of this page’s last check. There’s no dedicated status page — Embark’s official channels for outages and maintenance are the @ARCRaidersGame account on X and that same Steam news hub, and there’s no confirmed fixed weekly maintenance slot, though players commonly report downtime clustering around patch days.

Error codes follow prefix families rather than plain-English names: ARAV codes are anti-cheat/system-integrity violations (documented in Embark’s own Help Center), ARAU codes are authentication failures, AREX codes are in-raid disconnects, and ARMR/ARSB/ART0-prefixed codes cluster around matchmaking and backend connectivity. The game runs Easy Anti-Cheat, plus Denuvo Anti-Cheat added mid-2026 — a change that briefly broke Linux/SteamOS compatibility until Valve shipped a Proton hotfix.

Maintenance, queues, and real outages

Three different things get reported as "ARC Raiders is down," and only one of them is an outage. The chart above is the fastest way to tell them apart, once there's data on it:

A real outage

Reports spike hard within an hour, then decay as the problem is fixed. Nobody announced it in advance.

Scheduled maintenance

Reports climb steadily and stay flat for the length of the window, because everyone hits the same wall at the same time and keeps hitting it.

A login queue

Matchmaking/login reports climb while server-connection reports stay low, and a Steam player count (if shown above) holds flat instead of dropping. The servers are up and full, not down — waiting is the only fix.

Announced maintenance would show up at the studio's own status channel or the official Discord before it shows up here.

If it's only broken for you

Most "is it down" moments aren't outages. Work down this list before assuming the servers are the problem — it's ordered by how often each one turns out to be the answer, not by how easy it is.

  1. 01

Check the report count above first

It costs nothing and it settles the question. A flat report count means other players are getting in fine, and everything below is worth your time. A spike means it isn't you, and none of it is.

  2. 02

    Verify the game files

In Steam: right-click ARC Raiders → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. A partial patch is the single most common cause of a game that launches and then fails to connect.

  3. 03

Restart the whole chain, in order

Game, then your launcher/Steam, then your router. People almost always do the first and skip the third — a stale router NAT table produces exactly the symptom people report as "servers down."

  4. 04

Rule out a VPN or restrictive network

A VPN fails matchmaking far more often than it fixes it, and so does a corporate or campus network that blocks the UDP ports a game server needs. If you're on a network you don't administer, that's the likely answer.

  5. 05

If it crashes rather than fails to connect, treat it as a crash

A game that starts and then dies, rather than never connecting, is usually a local fault — most often graphics drivers or overlay software, not the servers.

ARC Raiders server status: common questions

Is ARC Raiders down right now?

As of 00:51 UTC, 0 players have reported a problem in the last 15 minutes — counted as people, so repeat taps from one person don't inflate it. This page updates on every load.

Does Embark Studios publish an official ARC Raiders status page?

No. There's no dedicated status dashboard — outlets covering the game (Shacknews among them) confirm Embark hasn't shipped one, and third-party trackers exist specifically to fill that gap. The closest official channels are the @ARCRaidersGame account on X, the Steam news hub for app 1808500 (patch and hotfix notes), and the official Discord's announcement channels. Check those before assuming a wider outage.

When does ARC Raiders have scheduled maintenance?

Embark hasn't published a fixed recurring schedule. Coverage of the game's live-service cadence (Shacknews) says maintenance windows track content releases rather than a locked weekly slot, and players commonly report downtime clustering around Tuesday patch and hotfix days — the Steam news hub shows Store/Live Updates landing on a roughly weekly cadence through September 2026. Treat "Tuesday maintenance" as a pattern players have noticed, not a confirmed schedule, and check the Steam news hub or X before planning around it.

Is ARC Raiders crossplay, and does progress carry across platforms?

Yes to both. Embark's own Help Center explains that your Embark ID — a name plus a four-digit discriminator, the same account system covered in its "What is Embark ID?" article — is what enables cross-progression between Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as well as cross-platform play with friends, and GameSpot's cross-play explainer confirms it's on by default with no setup required. Loot, quests, levels and cosmetics sync automatically across whichever platform you log into.

Embark's official "What is Embark ID?" article →

What do ARC Raiders' error code prefixes (ARMR, ARAU, AREX, ARAV, ARSB, ART0...) mean?

Embark groups its error codes by system rather than giving each one a plain-English name. ARAV codes are anti-cheat/system-integrity violations, documented in Embark's own Help Center article on the subject; ARAU codes are authentication/login failures; AREX codes show up as in-raid disconnects; ARMR and ARSB/ARRT codes cluster around matchmaking and backend/online-services failures; and a handful of short numeric codes (like 30005) are Easy Anti-Cheat service errors rather than Embark-specific codes at all. See this site's error pages for the specific ones players search most.

What's a System Integrity Violation (ARAV) error, and is it a ban?

It isn't a ban. Embark's official Help Center article "System Integrity Violation and Error Codes" states these fire when "your computer system isn't meeting one or more of the security requirements needed to run the game, or a disallowed process has been detected" — disabled Windows security features (Core Isolation, Memory Integrity, Secure Boot), overlay/injector-style tools (macro software, overclocking utilities, Cheat Engine, AutoHotkey), or a Virtual Machine launch. Embark's own fix list: enable those Windows security features, close third-party tools that alter gameplay or hardware, and whitelist ARC Raiders and Easy Anti-Cheat in your antivirus.

Does ARC Raiders wipe progress between Expeditions?

Embark runs the game in numbered "Expeditions" — content seasons with their own Damage Challenges and a "Departure" sign-up window at the end of each one — per its own Steam news posts (the game is on its 5th Expedition as of this page's last check). A July 2025-era bug briefly auto-signed some players up for Departure who hadn't completed the requirements for it; Embark's Steam post on the issue said it would revert affected sign-ups in waves rather than run the wipe as intended. Check the in-game Expedition tab and the Steam news hub before an Expedition's Departure deadline if you don't want to be swept into it by mistake.

I got disconnected mid-raid and lost my gear — what happened?

This is almost certainly AREX0001, the most-reported in-raid disconnect code for ARC Raiders. Independent Steam Discussions threads describe the same pattern: the game drops you mid-raid with no warning, often right after a patch or hotfix, and reconnecting frequently fails — which means the gear you were carrying is gone. There's no developer acknowledgement of a specific cause yet and no confirmed fix; it's a server/session problem, not something on your end.

Matchmaking keeps failing with an error code — is that me or the servers?

If the message is "Matchmaking has failed. Please try again in a little while." with the code ARMR0002, it's almost always Embark's servers, not you — a Steam Discussions thread on this exact message shows several distinct players hitting it at the same time and then confirming it cleared on its own minutes later with no local fix applied. Wait 10-15 minutes before troubleshooting your own connection.

Why do I keep getting kicked or flagged by anti-cheat mid-raid?

ARC Raiders runs Easy Anti-Cheat, and a June 2026 Proton compatibility issue specifically broke the game for Linux/SteamOS players after Embark switched on Denuvo Anti-Cheat alongside it — Valve shipped a Proton hotfix to restore compatibility, as reported by GamingOnLinux and mirrored on the game's own Steam news hub. On Windows, most anti-cheat kicks trace back to the same causes as a System Integrity Violation (see above): third-party overlays, injectors, or security features turned off.
