Aniimo "Unable to initialize the game scripts" (fix)
Aniimo won't get past the first loading screen. One player quotes the error as "Resource Update โ Unable to initialize the game scripts", another as "game script failed to initialize". Reinstalling and verifying files didn't help either of them.
Also appears as: Resource Update Unable to initialize the game scripts, aniimo unable to initialize the game scripts, aniimo game script failed to initialize, aniimo stuck on first loading screen, aniimo getResolutionNumber nil
Two players in one Steam Discussions thread report the same startup failure, and both found a Lua error in the game's Player.log pointing at how the game reads the display resolution (a video settings step, and a resolution value coming back empty). It happens under both DirectX 11 and 12. Pawprint Studio hasn't replied in the thread or named this error in its launch FAQ. One player says it went away after temporarily setting Windows to 3840x2160 and letting the NVIDIA App apply its recommended Aniimo settings. That is a single report on one monitor, so it is unconfirmed.
What to try
- 01Unconfirmed
Set Windows to 3840x2160, apply NVIDIA App settings, launch (one report)
One player (NVIDIA GPU, 3440x1440 ultrawide) says the NVIDIA App refused to optimize Aniimo unless the desktop was at 3840x2160. They switched Windows to 3840x2160, let the NVIDIA App apply its recommended settings for Aniimo, launched the game (it passed the first loading screen), then set the monitor back to its native resolution. They had to re-select the resolution in NVIDIA Control Panel to remove black bars. Nobody else has confirmed it.

Reinstall, verify files, DX11/12 and antivirus exclusions did not help
No confirmed fix yet; this page will be updated. Reporters say none of these worked: reinstalling, verifying files in Steam, switching between DX11 and DX12, adding antivirus exclusions, resetting the local Aniimo folder, forcing 1920x1080 at 100% scaling, and installing the latest patch.

Send Player.log to Pawprint support
Pawprint asks for Player.log and Player-prev.log from C:\Users\<you>\AppData\LocalLow\Aniimo\Aniimo (turn on hidden folders first), sent to aniimo_support@aniimo.com, for other crashes. Both reporters here said they emailed support and had no reply when they posted.
