Aniimo crashes leaving the RV camp (Pawprint investigating)

Since the September 22 maintenance, leaving the RV camp crashes Aniimo to desktop for some players on PC and Steam Deck. Switching DX11/DX12, lowering shadow quality, and reinstalling have each worked for some players but not others.

Since the September 22 maintenance, several players report Aniimo crashing when they leave the RV camp. Pawprint's support account replied in the thread asking for device info, logs and crash files, so the studio is looking at it.
Nothing has fixed it for everyone. The original poster traced their crash to files corrupted by the update and fixed it with a reinstall, but a Steam Deck player on the Proton workaround saw the crash return, and reinstalling didn't help them. A theory blaming the creature Fulmantis in your party has one report for it and one against.

Switch between DX12 and DX11 in graphics settings
Pawprint's support account asked affected players to try switching between DX12 and DX11 in the game's graphics settings as a first step.

Lower your shadow quality setting
One player reported the crash stopped regardless of party composition after turning down graphics settings, shadows specifically — this is disputed by another player who says the cause was corrupted files, not graphics (see below).

One player traced their crash to files corrupted by the update itself and fixed it by uninstalling, reinstalling, and verifying game file integrity. It didn't help at least one other player, so treat it as worth trying, not a guaranteed fix.

The "Fulmantis in your party" theory is disputed, not confirmed
One player claimed crashes happen specifically with the creature Fulmantis in your party, tested on both Steam and Xbox. Another player says they run Fulmantis with no crash after lowering shadow quality. Don't remove Fulmantis expecting that alone to fix it.

Steam Deck/Proton players: this can recur even with the usual workaround
At least one Steam Deck player on the Proton 10.0.0-4 workaround (see this site's Steam Deck crash page) reports the crash came back after the September 22 maintenance, with reinstalling and verifying files both failing to fix it as of this page's last check.
