Old School RuneScape "Unable to connect. Login server offline."

Login fails with "Unable to connect. Login server offline." on Steam, RuneLite and mobile alike, on every world you try.

In a March 4, 2021 Steam Discussions thread, players reported this exact message on the Steam client, on RuneLite and on the mobile app, on multiple worlds. Some replies said RuneScape 3 and the Jagex website were also offline. A Jagex moderator replied in the thread: "we're aware of issues with the servers and are actively investigating them." That reply supports one thing only: this message can be caused by Jagex's servers. It does not prove every appearance of it is a server fault, and it does not give a player-side fix. If it shows on more than one client at once, the problem is not your install. Check Jagex's status page and the official @OldSchoolRS account.
