Login is refused with "Too many login attempts from your address", often after several tries in a row or during a busy period.

Jagex describes this as a known message commonly associated with periods of high traffic that can stop players logging in. For the most part, it says, waiting resolves it, and repeated attempts can make it worse, so it recommends leaving at least 30 minutes between attempts. It also lists other routes: logging in through the Jagex Launcher, logging in through Steam (Jagex says this should bypass the error), trying a different account, and trying a different connection, since it can be caused by your connection location or IP range. Jagex says to avoid popular VPNs where possible and to use an official client, because third-party clients use a tunnelled connection service that can contribute to the error.
