On launch, a dialog reads "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument," and the game won't start.

One player reported this on a laptop with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics running Windows 11, despite Intel's own driver reporting DirectX 12 feature level 12_1 support and up-to-date drivers (32.0.101.7077). This looks like a compatibility gap between the game's Unreal Engine renderer and Intel's integrated graphics specifically, rather than a genuine lack of DirectX 12 support on the hardware — but only one report has surfaced so far, and the player who filed it said trying without the -dx12/-d3d12 launch arguments did not fix it for them. Treat this as unresolved rather than a solved, common issue.

Fix it, step by step

  1. Add -dx11 as a Steam launch option (did not work for the one reporter)

    Add -dx11 as a Steam launch option (right-click the game → Properties → General → Launch Options) to force the older renderer. The one reporting player said this did not resolve it for them, but it's the standard workaround for this dialog in other Unreal Engine titles.
