After Early Access opens, you can't connect to a match. The game doesn't show the Day One Patch 0.1.1 having installed, and the connection never completes.

On October 10, 2026, Deaf Tone Games put a note at the top of the Day One Patch 0.1.1 post: "We currently have reports that the update is not auto-installing." Players who stayed on the older build could not connect to matches, and the studio said the issue was being sent to Valve.

That note was gone from the post by October 11, and Patch 0.1.2 shipped the same day without mentioning it, so whether Steam now updates the game normally is unconfirmed. One Steam Discussions thread ("I downloaded early access but can't connect") has two other players with the same problem; the exact dialog is still unknown.

The studio's fix was to run "Verify integrity of game files" in Steam, or do a full reinstall. Since 0.1.1, connection failures explain the failed step and give retry guidance, so the message may differ after you update.

Fix it, step by step

  1. Check Steam is not holding a pending update (unconfirmed)

    In Steam, open Library and look at the game's entry and the Downloads page for a waiting update, and restart Steam so it can fetch the latest patch (0.1.2 as of October 11). The studio only said the update wasn't auto-installing, and didn't list this as a fix, so it isn't verified.

  2. Run Verify integrity of game files in Steam

    In Steam, go to Library, click the game, then Properties, then Installation, and choose "Verify integrity of game files". Deaf Tone Games gave this as the manual update route if you can't connect to matches and didn't receive the update automatically.

  3. Do a full reinstall of the game

    If verifying doesn't help, uninstall and reinstall the game. The studio's October 10 note on the Patch 0.1.1 post listed a full reinstall as the other fix.

  4. Note

    One Ukrainian-language Steam Discussions thread describes the game showing "0 of 5 services available" and not connecting. It has no replies and no fix, and it isn't tied to the patch problem. If you see the same, check the live status page.
