Connecting to Dune: Awakening fails with error "873" ("High Server Load") and the connection request is not processed.

873 is Funcom's "High Server Load" connection error. Funcom's pinned Steam thread on connection error codes says it means "the server is under heavy demand and could not process your connection request." It is on Funcom's side, not your PC or network.
Funcom's advice is to wait a few minutes and try again, and notes that during peak times access may be limited. It is a load error, unlike 872, which players reported when one specific World was down. To see whether the game is having a wider problem, check the live Dune: Awakening status page.
