Dune: Awakening error P34: connection timed out (fix)

Login or gameplay is interrupted by a "P34" error dialog, usually with no other warning — the game was working, then it wasn't.

P34 means your client sent a request to Funcom's server and never got a response back — Dune: Awakening's own connection-error documentation (mirrored on the community wiki and in a Steam Discussions post citing it) describes P34 specifically as "the client waited for a response from the server and received none." That can mean the server itself is offline or overloaded, or that something between you and it dropped the connection — both are covered below. Players who go from playing normally to a sudden run of P34 errors, especially around a daily restart window, are usually looking at a server-side blip rather than anything on their end.
