Where Winds Meet "noenoughmemory" error while loading

While the account loads, a "noenoughmemory" popup appears, the game stops responding, and reinstalling doesn't help.

Also appears as: noenoughmemory, no enough memory, where winds meet not enough memory, where winds meet out of memory crash loading, where winds meet direct3d not enough memory, where winds meet crash loading account

This is a memory error on your PC, not a server fault. The game's Steam page lists 16 GB of RAM as the minimum and 32 GB as recommended. A Steam thread from September 2026 describes the game filling 16 GB of RAM plus swap and crashing after the second loading screen.

The only report of this exact text is one Reddit post (8 comments). Its poster didn't say what fixed it, and no NetEase staff replied. The fixes below are commenters' suggestions, not confirmed.

Fix it, step by step

  1. Check your PC has at least 16 GB of RAM (32 GB recommended)

The Steam store page lists 16 GB RAM as the minimum and 32 GB as recommended, with 130 GB of free storage. A Steam poster who hit "Direct3d, not enough memory" at login was told in the thread to upgrade, and another reported the game using all 16 GB of RAM plus swap. Close other programs before launching.

  2. Set Windows virtual memory to system managed (unconfirmed)

In Windows, open Advanced system settings > Performance > Advanced > Virtual memory and tick "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives". A Reddit commenter suggested "Check your virtual memory. Just set it to system decided". The poster didn't say whether it worked.

  3. Use the launcher's lite install (unconfirmed)

A Reddit commenter suggested "Use launcher install lite version". The poster didn't confirm it, and we found no official NetEase page describing the lite install.

  4. Close startup apps and free disk space (unconfirmed)

Another commenter suggested checking that the game runs on the NVIDIA GPU, disabling startup apps, and making sure the drive has enough free space. None of this was confirmed by the poster.

  5. Note

The Reddit poster reinstalled and still got the error, so a fresh install by itself is unlikely to be the fix. No confirmed fix yet; if it persists, contact NetEase support through the game's launcher.
