Where Winds Meet Steam Discussions — wont connect to servers? ↗

Login fails with a "can't connect to the server" message, sometimes even after a full reinstall, and often clusters right after a patch or during an announced maintenance window.

Also appears as: can't connect to the server, cant connect to server, where winds meet connection to server failed, wont connect to servers, no puedo conectar al servidor

A Steam Discussions thread asking "is anyone else having issues logging in? it keeps telling me it cant connect to the server i deleted and reinstalled and still the same" drew 20 replies, several of which pinned the cause on scheduled maintenance rather than a broken install — one reply said "Servers will be down for another hour," another gave a specific end time ("maintenance should be done at 10:00am (UTC+8) on Jan 9th"). That timing lines up with NetEase's own posted maintenance pattern (see this game's status page): reinstalling didn't help any of the affected players because the block was on NetEase's side, not theirs.

What to try

  1. 01

Check the Steam news hub and X for a posted maintenance window

Check the Steam news hub for app 3564740 and NetEase's official @WhereWindsMeet_ account on X first — this exact message has repeatedly matched a maintenance window NetEase had already posted, and reinstalling did not fix it for those players.

  2. 02

Restart your router and check other online services work

If no maintenance is posted, restart your router and confirm other online games or services work normally on the same connection.

  3. 03

Verify game files and check antivirus or firewall blocking

If it persists outside any announced window, verify game files through Steam's Properties menu and check that antivirus or a firewall isn't blocking the game.

    Unconfirmed
