Once Human "Server is Full" with low population (fix)

Trying to create a character on, or join a friend's, server returns a "Server is Full" message — sometimes even when that same server's population meter shows "Low."
Also appears as: once human server is full, server is full once human, server population low server is full, once human can't join friend's server full, every server is full once human, server has reached its sign-up limit
Numerous Steam Discussions threads, most clustered around the July 2024 launch window, describe "Server is Full" blocking new characters or joins — several of them explicitly note the same server reporting low population at the same time, which multiple independent posters flagged as a direct contradiction. No official explanation of the exact capacity mechanic has been found; the most plausible read, based on the reports, is a per-scenario character-creation cap that's separate from the general population meter players actually see, but that's an inference rather than a confirmed mechanism.

For Isles of Abyss servers, Starry Studio's 2026-10-20 server post says: "If your friend has already entered an [Isles of Abyss] server and that server is full, they can share a [Special Invitation Code] so you can join using the code." Your friend finds it under Player Info, Special Invitation Code. The post describes this for Isles of Abyss servers only.

Sign up as a squad for an Isles of Abyss server
The same post says the squad leader can sign up for an Isles of Abyss server once servers open, and after signing up all squad members are guaranteed to enter the same server. It also says Starry Studio will open new servers as needed based on the remaining capacity of existing servers. This is the studio's description for Isles of Abyss, which launches on 21 October; we have not seen it tested.
