Once Human Steam Discussions — "server request timeout ?" (28 replies) ↗

Trying to log into a server, or reconnect mid-session, returns a "Server Request Timeout" message instead of loading the character in.

Check whether Once Human maintenance is live first. Several of the Steam threads about this message coincide with scheduled maintenance, and the login simply fails until the servers reopen.

The message means your client sent a request to a server and got no response. It appears in at least eight Steam Discussions threads between August 2024 and September 2025, and no official post names a cause. The one thread we found without maintenance replies has no confirmed fix. We label it them because it is the servers not answering.

What to try

    Check for an active maintenance window on your region

    Before troubleshooting locally, check whether maintenance is live: look at @OnceHuman_ on X, oncehuman.game/news and the Steam news hub for app 2139460. Updates usually start maintenance at 23:00 UTC (3:00 PM Pacific since the November clock change, per the official 3.1.2 announcement). Four of the five timeout threads we re-read in October 2026 (including the source thread) have replies saying it was maintenance, and several describe it clearing once the servers reopened.
