Once Human Steam Discussions — Error code 124 ↗

The login screen hangs for an extended period — one report describes roughly 20 attempts over a few hours — before finally showing an "Error code 124" message instead of letting the player in.

Also appears as: once human error code 124, once human error 124, error code 124 login, once human login stuck error 124

The only documented report of code 124 describes a login screen hanging for hours before finally failing with this code, which matches a server-side login backlog more than a local fault. Once Human has separately, publicly acknowledged login trouble before: in August 2025, Starry Studio posted that "some Steam players are experiencing login issues," said it had contacted Steam's technical team, and suggested repairing the client or simply trying to log in again. That post doesn't name code 124 specifically, so treat the connection as circumstantial rather than confirmed.

What to try

  1. 01

Keep retrying the login (one report cleared after ~20 tries)

Keep retrying — the single documented report of this code describes it clearing after roughly 20 login attempts over a few hours, which points at a server-side login backlog rather than a permanent block.

Repair the game client through Steam

Repair the game client through Steam (Library > Once Human > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files) — this is the exact step Once Human's own August 2025 statement on Steam login issues recommended.

Check for an active maintenance window if it recurs

If it recurs across sessions, check oncehuman.game/news and the Steam news hub for app 2139460 for an active maintenance window before troubleshooting further on your end.
