Once Human refuses to launch or log in and says the client is outdated, even after you force-close it, check for updates and restart.

Also appears as: once human client outdated, client outdated once human, once human client outdated xbox, once human can't launch maintenance, once human update not available

"Client Outdated" appears around updates. In the one thread we found, an Xbox player hit it during maintenance, and a reply said to wait for the update to finish. The player then wrote "Figured."

Once Human's maintenance usually starts at 4:00 PM Pacific on update days. Check the Once Human status page and the official channels first; this is one report, with no developer reply.

What to try

    Check whether maintenance is live

    Check oncehuman.game/news, the Steam news hub for app 2139460 or @OnceHuman_ on X for an active maintenance notice. Maintenance usually starts at 4:00 PM Pacific around updates. In the one r/OnceHumanOfficial thread, replies said to wait for maintenance and the update to finish.

    Check for the update once maintenance ends (one thread)

    When maintenance ends, check for the update in your store or launcher. In that thread a reply said "The update is available now" and the original poster answered "Figured." That is one thread with no developer reply.

    Restart the game or console after updating (unconfirmed)

    After the update finishes installing, fully close the game and start it again, or restart the console. The original poster had already tried force-closing, checking for updates and restarting during maintenance, so this only makes sense once the update is out.

    Don't uninstall as a first move: one reply in the same thread said it caused a lengthy reinstall.
