Gray Zone Warfare "GPU Crash dump Triggered": official fixes

The game closes and the UE-GZW Crash Reporter opens with "An Unreal process has crashed: UE-GZW" and "GPU Crash dump Triggered" in the crash details, often mid-raid or while deploying.

Also appears as: gpu crash dump triggered, gray zone warfare gpu crash, an unreal process has crashed ue-gzw, ue-gzw crash reporter, gray zone warfare crash, grey zone warfare gpu crash dump, gray zone warfare keeps crashing

The graphics driver stopped responding while the game was rendering. MADFINGER's help centre calls it one of the most common crashes players report, alongside EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION, and lists steps that it says "might help eliminate these crashes or at least reduce their frequency".

MADFINGER has fixed specific GPU crashes in patches several times, including one while deploying in March 2026, so update the game first. After that, the cause is usually the driver, its settings or an overclock on your PC.

Fix it, step by step

  1. Verify game files in Steam

Right-click Gray Zone Warfare in Steam > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. MADFINGER lists this first.

  2. Set Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to match your upscaler

In Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings, turn Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling On if you use DLSS, and Off if you use FSR, TSR or XeSS. MADFINGER adds that NVIDIA 30-series owners crashing with DLSS should try it Off.

  3. Clean-reinstall your GPU driver with DDU

Download the latest driver from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel first, remove the current driver with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), then install the one you downloaded. If the newest NVIDIA driver is the problem, MADFINGER suggests rolling back to 576.88.

  4. Reset NVIDIA Control Panel 3D settings to default

In NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings, click Restore. MADFINGER also suggests setting Shader Cache Size to 10 GB if you have spare drive space.

  5. Close Razer Synapse, Logitech G Hub and other background apps

MADFINGER says to exit programs like Razer Synapse and Logitech G Hub before launching, to prevent memory conflicts.

  6. Turn off CPU, GPU and RAM overclocks

MADFINGER's 2024 troubleshooting guide says overclocking is a known cause of instability in Unreal Engine 5 games, including this one, and to turn off CPU and GPU overclock profiles, and possibly RAM profiles such as XMP.

  7. Note

Allow the crash reporter to send its data, and open a ticket at support.madfingergames.com with your dxdiag file (Start > dxdiag > Save All Information). The graphics settings also have a GPU crash debugging tool that MADFINGER says gives more detail, at some cost to performance.
