Gray Zone Warfare "Game Security Violation Detected (#00000022)"

At launch the game shows "Game Security Violation Detected (#00000022)" and doesn't start.

Also appears as: game security violation detected, game security violation detected #00000022, #00000022, 00000022, gray zone warfare game security violation, grey zone warfare security violation, gray zone warfare avast, gray zone warfare norton

This isn't a ban. MADFINGER's help centre says third-party antivirus is blocking Easy Anti-Cheat from starting, mainly Avast and Norton, though other antivirus programs can do it too.

Adding the game and Easy Anti-Cheat as exceptions fixes it. Norton users may also need to turn off Behavioral Protection.

Fix it, step by step

  1. Add the game and Easy Anti-Cheat as antivirus exceptions

In your antivirus, add exceptions for GZW\Binaries\Win64\GZWClientSteam-Win64-Shipping and GZWClientEAC (both in the Gray Zone Warfare install folder) and for C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat_EOS\EasyAntiCheat_EOS.exe. For Avast, MADFINGER says these exceptions should be enough.

  2. On Norton 360, exclude the game folder and turn off Behavioral Protection

In Norton 360, go to Security > Advanced > Antivirus > Exclusions and add C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Gray Zone Warfare\* (adjust the path if your library is elsewhere). If it still won't start, MADFINGER says to disable Security > Advanced > Behavioral Protection.
