Arkheron crashes on launch before the login screen (fix)

Arkheron crashes immediately during the "Launching Arkheron..." step, before the login screen even appears, and triggers Steam's Crash Report Handler. It happens on every attempt, regardless of graphics settings or resolution.

This is a playtest/demo-era issue with real engagement in Steam Discussions — several players independently confirmed the same crash, and a Bonfire Studios developer (Steam-tagged staff, posting as "deolis") responded directly and kept working the thread with affected players. Because the crash happens so early, Bonfire often can't pull a log or crash dump automatically, which is why their troubleshooting leans on players manually sending files. Two local causes have turned up so far: file corruption (cleared by verifying game files) and antivirus software removing files it shouldn't. A separate variant — a "Close Arkheron or Wait for Arkheron to recover" hang — was still being worked on as of Bonfire's last reply, with no fix shipped yet.
What to try
- 01Verify the integrity of game files through Steam (right-click Arkheron > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files). Bonfire's own developer says this fixed it for several players hitting early crashes.Reported
