Active Matter: Gaijin account won't link to Steam (fix)

Launching the Steam version logs you straight into a new, empty account instead of your existing Gaijin.net account and its progress — the settings menu shows "You are logged in via Steam," and choosing "Log Out" only offers "Log in via Steam without Gaijin.net" rather than a way back to your original account. Separately, some players can't even complete the Steam purchase because their Gaijin account has no confirmed email.

This is an account-linking gap, not a server problem or a bug that loses your progress outright. Active Matter's Steam client defaults to auto-logging in through Steam rather than your existing Gaijin.net credentials, and a Gaijin Community Manager confirmed directly in Steam Discussions that the way around it is the client's "Login via Web" option, which lets you sign in with any saved account instead. Separately, anyone who bought the paid early version through the Gaijin Store needs to use an official transfer page to claim the Steam edition — it's a real, sourced process, not a workaround.
