ACE COMBAT 8 error ST-1000024: Matchmaking canceled
Searching for a match in ACE COMBAT ONLINE ends after about five seconds with "Matchmaking canceled", error code ST-1000024.

Players report ST-1000024 ("Matchmaking canceled") when searching for Warfare, Scramble and Emergency Sortie, while Assault matches were reported to work. In a Steam thread (14 comments) on 9 October, players said it looked like a game-side problem, not their PCs, and one said it also hit console. That is player opinion.
On 9 October Bandai Namco's Steam announcement said it has confirmed that mission matchmaking "may be more difficult to establish than intended" in certain environments, and that an update with fixes is being prepared, with no date given. It doesn't name ST-1000024.

Bandai Namco's 9 October Steam announcement, Upcoming Update Plans for ACE COMBAT 8 and Matchmaking Status in ONLINE MODE, says an upcoming update will include fixes for some of the issues players reported, and that release schedule and contents will be announced when finalised. It gives no date and doesn't mention ST-1000024.

Try Assault instead while other modes fail (player reports)
Two players in the thread said Assault matches worked while Warfare and Scramble gave the error. Another said only Assault sometimes launched, and one said Assault was fixed and then Warfare broke, so what works may change hour to hour.

Sync Windows time, update Windows and verify game files (one report)
One player wrote that it "seems to be fixed at the moment" after they updated Windows, synced the time in settings and verified the game's files. Others in the thread had the same error that day, so it may have cleared on its own.

The same announcement says matchmaking trouble may come from connections made from environments that don't meet the system requirements, and asks players to play on Windows 11 and install the game on an SSD, as an HDD may affect loading times and stability. It doesn't say this resolves ST-1000024.
