A sudden spike in video memory (VRAM) usage, sometimes with a stutter or crash, when opening certain UI windows such as the inventory or map.

This was a real, developer-acknowledged bug, not a hardware problem — Kraken Express's own April 30, 2026 patch notes (version 0.10.0.4.268-9d2ca277) list "Fixed a video memory (VRAM) spike when opening certain UI windows" under that update's Interface fixes. If you're on version 0.10.0.4 or later and still seeing VRAM spikes tied to opening menus specifically, it's likely a different, unreported issue rather than this one recurring — but players on an older build who search this symptom should update first before trying anything more involved.
