The Bornless "servers offline" between test windows (fix)
The Bornless disappears from your Steam library, won't launch, or throws a generic launch error, even though it worked during a previous test — and no patch or update is showing.
Also appears as: the bornless servers offline, is the bornless down, the bornless server status, no live public playtest, why can't i get into the bornless, the bornless not in my steam library
This isn't a bug on your end. The Bornless has no live public build most of the time — Cathedral Studios only turns servers on for announced test windows (a weekend playtest, a Steam Next Fest demo, a Scream Fest event), then takes it offline again. The game's own official playtest page says so directly: "THERE IS CURRENTLY NO LIVE PUBLIC PLAYTEST. At the moment, there is no public playtest for The Bornless happening." Outside a live window, the Playtest entry is hidden from your Steam library entirely, not just unplayable. Cathedral Studios also confirmed in a December 18, 2025 Steam post that the team is still working through "server stability improvements" after the most recent Scream Fest test and has "nothing concrete... in terms of Early Access" yet, so a long quiet stretch with no playtest is expected right now, not a sign anything is broken.
The Bornless isn't playable yet — there's no service to be down.
Is The Bornless down right now? Live reports →What to try
- 01Check the official playtest page (thebornless.com/playtest) and the Steam news hub for app 2411280 for the next announced test window before troubleshooting anything — outside one, the game is meant to be unreachable.Confirmed
- 02Follow @TheBornlessGame on X or join the official Discord (discord.gg/thebornless) for the exact go-live time; test windows are announced there first, often with a Steam key requirement.Confirmed
- 03If it's during an announced, live window and you're still getting a launch error rather than a missing library entry, see the AuthenticateUserTicket and "no license found" pages for this game.Reported
