The Bornless hasn't launched yet
No confirmed launch date yet. There's no live-service history to check, and no reports are possible until real players are in the game. This page will start showing live reports, a 24-hour chart, and an incident history automatically once it does — no rebuild needed.

Server-side
- SERVERS-OFFLINEConfirmed
The Bornless "servers offline" between test windows (fix)
The Bornless disappears from your Steam library, won't launch, or throws a generic launch error, even though it worked during a previous test — and no patch or update is showing.
- AUTHENTICATEUSERTICKET-ERRORReported
The Bornless "AuthenticateUserTicket error" — access ended (fix)
Launching shows "Steam API AuthenticateUserTicket error response: ('response': ('error'…)" or leaves you stuck at the main lobby screen instead of loading in, right after previously being able to play.
- NO-LICENSE-FOUNDReported
The Bornless "no license found" launch error (fix)
Clicking Play immediately shows "an error occurred whilst launching the game — no license found," with no other explanation, even though the game launched fine earlier the same event.
About The Bornless's servers
The Bornless is an unreleased PvPvE extraction horror FPS from Cathedral Studios, set on Farmouth Island, a fictional stretch of Massachusetts coast in the 1960s where the border between reality and the occult has worn thin. Duos start in a cabin, loot the island for Sigils while fighting Cultists and rival players, then activate ritual Gates that summon a demon — at which point the pair holding the most power can become that demon and hunt everyone else, who now have to reach extraction before time runs out. It’s listed on Steam (app 2411280) as “Coming Soon” for 2026 with no specific date confirmed.
Nothing about The Bornless is live full-time yet. Cathedral Studios has run a string of scheduled tests instead — a March 2025 “A Storm Is Coming” weekend, a Steam Next Fest demo through mid-June 2025, an October 2025 weekend playtest, and a Scream Fest event that ran into early November 2025 — switching between a public demo and a keyed Playtest build as needed. Outside those windows, the game is pulled from players’ Steam libraries entirely rather than left idle, which is why “is it down” moments for this game are mostly a scheduling question, not a bug report. Cathedral Studios said as much in its most recent Steam post, from December 18, 2025: the team is still working through “server stability improvements” after Scream Fest and has nothing concrete yet on Early Access timing. Status and outage news, when there is any, goes to the Steam news hub, the official Discord (discord.gg/thebornless), and @TheBornlessGame on X — there’s no independent uptime tracker for the game elsewhere.
Maintenance, queues, and real outages
Three different things get reported as "The Bornless is down," and only one of them is an outage. The chart above is the fastest way to tell them apart, once there's data on it:
A real outage
Reports spike hard within an hour, then decay as the problem is fixed. Nobody announced it in advance.
Scheduled maintenance
Reports climb steadily and stay flat for the length of the window, because everyone hits the same wall at the same time and keeps hitting it.
A login queue
Matchmaking/login reports climb while server-connection reports stay low, and a Steam player count (if shown above) holds flat instead of dropping. The servers are up and full, not down — waiting is the only fix.
Announced maintenance would show up at the studio's own status channel or the official Discord before it shows up here.
If it's only broken for you
Most "is it down" moments aren't outages. Work down this list before assuming the servers are the problem — it's ordered by how often each one turns out to be the answer, not by how easy it is.
- 01
Check the report count above first
It costs nothing and it settles the question. A flat report count means other players are getting in fine, and everything below is worth your time. A spike means it isn't you, and none of it is.
- 02
Verify the game files
In Steam: right-click The Bornless → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. A partial patch is the single most common cause of a game that launches and then fails to connect.
- 03
Restart the whole chain, in order
Game, then your launcher/Steam, then your router. People almost always do the first and skip the third — a stale router NAT table produces exactly the symptom people report as "servers down."
- 04
Rule out a VPN or restrictive network
A VPN fails matchmaking far more often than it fixes it, and so does a corporate or campus network that blocks the UDP ports a game server needs. If you're on a network you don't administer, that's the likely answer.
- 05
If it crashes rather than fails to connect, treat it as a crash
A game that starts and then dies, rather than never connecting, is usually a local fault — most often graphics drivers or overlay software, not the servers.
The Bornless server status: common questions
Is The Bornless down right now?
The Bornless isn't playable yet, so there's no service to be down. This page starts counting reports the moment the servers come up — no rebuild needed.
Is there an official The Bornless status page?
Not a dedicated uptime page, but the game's own official playtest page (thebornless.com/playtest) doubles as one: it flatly states "THERE IS CURRENTLY NO LIVE PUBLIC PLAYTEST" whenever nothing is running, and switches to test details once one goes live. Beyond that, Cathedral Studios posts through the Steam news hub for app 2411280, the official Discord (discord.gg/thebornless), and the @TheBornlessGame account on X. There's no independent status tracker for this game yet — which is exactly the gap a page like this one exists to cover.
Why the game disappears from your library between tests →When are The Bornless servers actually online?
Only during individually announced test windows, not on a fixed schedule. Cathedral Studios has run a March 2025 "A Storm Is Coming" weekend playtest, a Steam Next Fest demo through mid-June 2025, an October 25–26, 2025 weekend playtest, and a Scream Fest event running into early November 2025 — each announced separately on Steam and Discord shortly beforehand. Outside a live window, the Playtest entry is hidden from your Steam library entirely rather than just idle.
What it looks like when you're outside a test window →Where does Cathedral Studios announce Bornless maintenance or outages?
The Steam news hub for app 2411280, the announcements area of the official Discord, and @TheBornlessGame on X — the same three channels used for test-window announcements. Cathedral Studios also uses that Steam news feed to own up to problems: a December 18, 2025 post acknowledged the team was still working through "server stability improvements" after the most recent Scream Fest test, rather than staying silent about it.
What server regions does The Bornless support?
Unconfirmed. Cathedral Studios hasn't published a region list, a region-select option, or ping/latency guidance for any test run so far. Given the game is still pre-launch and each test has been run as a single, time-boxed event rather than a persistent live service, there's nothing to verify yet — this will get an update once a launch configuration is announced.
When does The Bornless fully launch?
No confirmed date. Steam's own store listing shows it as "Coming Soon" with only a year, 2026, and no specific date. Cathedral Studios crossed 400,000 Steam wishlists in November 2025 and ran a pre-registration prize giveaway around it, but as of its most recent Steam post (December 18, 2025) the studio said it has "nothing concrete... in terms of Early Access" and is "hoping to share news about future playtests in the new year." Treat any specific 2026 launch date you see elsewhere as unconfirmed until Cathedral Studios posts it directly.
Does progress or wishlist rewards carry over between Bornless tests?
Partially confirmed, partially not. Cathedral Studios has said Twitch drop rewards earned during a test "will be rewarded to you when we launch the game in the future" (per the official playtest page's own FAQ), and wishlist-milestone rewards from the 400,000-wishlist goal are slated for delivery "at Early Access" per a November 12, 2025 Steam post. Whether in-match Safehouse progress or loot itself carries over between one test event and the next hasn't been addressed either way — don't assume it does.
What platforms is The Bornless on?
PC only, confirmed. Steam's store data for app 2411280 lists Windows support with macOS and Linux both marked unsupported, and every test so far (demo and Playtest builds alike) has run through Steam. Cathedral Studios hasn't announced a console version; treat any console listing you see for this game as unverified until the studio confirms it directly.
Is 'The Bornless' the same as 'Boundless'?
No — different games from different studios. Boundless is an earlier, unrelated voxel sandbox MMO originally released by Wonderstruck Games. The Bornless is Cathedral Studios' 1960s Lovecraftian PvPvE extraction shooter on Farmouth Island. The names are close enough that a search for one can surface results for the other; if you're troubleshooting a launch or connection error, check you've actually got app 2411280 (The Bornless) and not a different Steam listing.
