Clicking Play immediately shows "an error occurred whilst launching the game — no license found," with no other explanation, even though the game launched fine earlier the same event.

A player reported this exact message in Steam Discussions on June 16, 2025 — the last day of The Bornless's Steam Next Fest demo. Another player replied within the same thread describing the identical error and working out the cause in real time: "I thought it was until the 19th but I guess I made a mistake with the dates... Edit: They did in fact go down today." That matches Steam's own Next Fest end date and Cathedral Studios' "STEAM NEXT FEST HAS ENDED!" post the same day — the demo's Steam license was pulled from everyone's account when the event closed, which Steam surfaces as a generic "no license found" rather than an explanation. If you hit this mid-event rather than right at a publicized end date, treat it as unconfirmed and check the current test schedule first.
