RuneScape: Dragonwilds crashes on Play Online (no internet)

You lose your internet or Wi-Fi, select Play Online, and the game closes instead of showing an error or letting you into single player.

This is a known Jagex bug, not something wrong with your install. Jagex's 1.0.0.5 patch notes, under "On our radar," say: "if you disconnect from your internet/wifi and try and select Play Online, the game will instead crash. Targeting a fix in 1.0.1 for this!" It wasn't fixed in 1.0.0.5 itself, so it can still happen on the latest hotfix. Jagex has not published a workaround. One Steam Discussions poster facing login failures suggested putting Steam in offline mode and choosing Cancel at the login prompt to reach single player; that came from a single reply and isn't confirmed. If the game crashes at launch even with a working connection, that's a different problem — see the fatal error page.

- 01Make sure your connection is up before choosing Play Online. Jagex lists the crash-when-offline bug as a known issue with a fix targeted for 1.0.1, so there is nothing to repair locally.Confirmed

- 03If the game keeps crashing at login and you only want to play solo, one Steam poster suggested Steam offline mode and pressing Cancel at the login prompt to reach single player. Untested by Jagex.Unconfirmed
