RuneScape: Dragonwilds crossplay not working or unavailable

The crossplay tick-box won't let you enable it, crossplay worlds don't show up, or joining across platforms fails with "error cannot use cross-network features with current account privacy settings."

There are two separate causes, and the first is Jagex's. Every hotfix has to be approved on each console platform, and crossplay only works when everyone is on the same build. Jagex's 1.0.0.4 notes state that patching meant "Nintendo Switch 2 and Jagex Launcher systems will no longer be able to crossplay until the patch has been processed on their respective platforms." Its 1.0.0.5 notes add that console verification "will take several days" and that Jagex was trying to avoid a weekend of disrupted play for Switch 2 players, and its September 25 announcement said the Switch 2 patch would follow the other platforms by about 45-60 minutes. If crossplay vanished right after an update, this is almost certainly why, and waiting is the fix. The second cause is on your PC and is player-reported only. Several Steam Discussions posters found crossplay blocked until they corrected their Windows clock or time zone, and one said the same wrong clock made Jagex's own website block them behind a Cloudflare check. - 04If you and a friend on the same home network keep failing to connect to each other, one player reported it worked once they were on different networks. A single report, not a general fix.Unconfirmed
- 05On Xbox, check the "You can see and upload community creations" privacy setting is set to Everyone. Jagex lists it as a blocker for online play — see the Xbox online play page.Confirmed
