RuneScape 3: "Error_game_crash" (corrupted cache)
The client crashes with "Error_game_crash", often at startup or while playing.

Jagex's support article says the problem is likely caused by corrupted files in your Jagex cache, and tells you to clear your cache files. If it crashes while you are playing, it points to its connectivity troubleshooting steps. Jagex's Clear cache article says to wait for the progress bar under the lobby to reach 100% before playing again. Both articles are tagged for RuneScape and Old School RuneScape.
What to try
- 01Clear your Jagex cache. On Windows, while the client is loading click the Options cog in the lower left, find the Cache folder and delete the whole folder. Jagex's Clear cache article also lists typing the command deletejs5caches into the Developer Console and restarting the game.Confirmed
- 02On Steam, right-click RuneScape in your library, open Properties and the Local Files tab, and delete the RuneScape folder. On Mac, search Spotlight for your Jagex folder inside your user folder and delete the RuneScape folder inside it. Both are from Jagex's Clear cache article.Confirmed
