The BSG Launcher or game refuses to start and shows a bare "Error: 0" dialog, often paired with the text 'There is no game with name "eft" Parameter name: game'.

This is Battlestate Games' own generic connection-failure error, and Steam Discussions threads on it are dominated by reports clustered right after major launches and high-traffic moments — most visibly the November 15, 2025 Steam 1.0 release, when a 294-reply thread on this exact message was answered directly by a Battlestate community rep with an official status statement (quoted below). That doesn't mean every "Error: 0" is server load — a stale or partially-updated install can throw the same generic message — but if you're seeing it during or right after a wipe, patch, or launch event, check Battlestate's channels before troubleshooting your own install.

A second pattern hits players who launch through Steam while the standalone BSG Launcher still opens fine, with text like "Error in Post (Error 0)" or "Error on POST https://profile.tarkov.com/ ERROR:0". In player threads on Steam Discussions and Reddit, from December 2025 and again in October 2026, resetting the launcher's settings in %AppData% fixed it for several players, though not for everyone.

    Check status.escapefromtarkov.com and the official @tarkov account on X for an active incident before touching your install — Battlestate's own reply to this exact error during the November 15, 2025 launch read: "Our technical team is actively working to stabilise the game servers and authorisation services," confirming this was a server-side, high-traffic problem, not a broken client.

    Steam launch: rename the BsgLauncher settings file (several reports)

    If the error only appears when you launch through Steam, fully close Steam and the BSG Launcher, open %appdata%\Battlestate Games\BsgLauncher, rename settings to settings_backup, then launch through Steam again; you may need to log in again. In the Steam Discussions thread "Error on POST ???" (October 21-22, 2026) about eight players said it worked, and two more said it fixed "Error on GET ... Status code: Forbidden Error: 0". The poster of an October 21 Reddit thread and several replies said the same for "Error in Post (Error 0)"; two Reddit replies said it didn't work for them.

    Steam launch: delete the BsgLauncher folder in AppData (mixed reports)

    If renaming the settings file doesn't help, close the game and launcher, press Windows + R, enter %AppData%\Battlestate Games, delete the BsgLauncher folder and launch again. In a December 2025 Steam Discussions thread on "Error on POST https://profile.tarkov.com/ ERROR:0" when launching from Steam, the original poster and at least four others said this worked; about four said it didn't. You may have to sign in to the launcher again afterwards.

    Verify your game files via the BSG Launcher or Steam

    If nothing is posted as active and the error persists once traffic has settled, verify your game files through the BSG Launcher's dropdown next to Play ("Verify integrity of game files") or Steam's Properties menu, since a partially-updated install can throw the same generic message.

    If it still fails, fully reinstall the BSG Launcher (not just the game) — several affected players report a stuck launcher install, rather than the game itself, as the actual cause once server load isn't the explanation.
