Deadlock crashes with a fatal error when opening Settings

Since the September 30, 2026 update, opening the Settings menu immediately closes Deadlock with a fatal error. Doing it mid-match can get you an abandon penalty.

A player on the game's subreddit reported the crash the day of the City Never Sleeps update. It happened every time they opened Settings, and crashing out of live matches gave them a 2-hour and then a 6-hour matchmaking ban. Verifying files didn't stop it. There's no confirmed fix yet, and nothing points to a cause on the player's PC. If you run mods or an FPS config, rule those out first, since they broke on a large scale with this update. We'll update this page once a fix is confirmed.

The reporter's crashes in live matches counted as abandons and led to 2-hour and 6-hour bans. Change settings only from the main menu for now.
