Swordeye "failed to connect to servers" on launch (fix)

The game loads to the main menu but won't let you into the tower — no clear error dialog, just a vague message about not being able to connect to the servers, or the "Climb" option doing nothing when clicked.

This has shown up during Swordeye's PC playtests even while the tower servers were confirmed up and other players were online at the same time — it isn't the same thing as an actual outage. Developer castavernas (ALX Theory LLC, posting on Steam Discussions) traced one report to the game failing to fetch either your inventory or the server list from Steam on launch, and said it's likely either a brief network hiccup between your PC and Steam, or between Steam and the game's backend, rather than a crash in the game itself. In the one confirmed case, simply relaunching the game the next day cleared it without any other change.

- 01Check the Steam news hub for Swordeye (app 2321890) and the official Discord's announcements channel first — if a playtest window has ended or hasn't started yet, the tower servers are simply offline between tests, which looks identical to a connection failure.Reported
- 02Fully close and relaunch the game. In the one reported case that generated this page, the error appeared once on first load and was gone on a later relaunch with no other changes made.Reported
