Swordeye hasn't launched yet

No confirmed launch date yet. There's no live-service history to check, and no reports are possible until real players are in the game. This page will start showing live reports, a 24-hour chart, and an incident history automatically once it does — no rebuild needed.

About Swordeye's servers

Swordeye is an unreleased PvPvE extraction MMO from ALX Theory LLC — in practice a single developer, castavernas, who builds, patches and personally answers Steam Discussions posts for the game. Players climb a persistent, interconnected tower stacked with monsters, traps, loot and other players, using a hardcore six-directional combat system (ripostes, feints, kicks and combos) where losing a fight can mean losing everything you were carrying. The game was called Swordai through most of its development and was renamed to Swordeye in February 2026 once the developer decided the old name read as an AI reference rather than the intended “sword-die” pronunciation. Steam lists it as “Coming Soon” with only a “2026” release window and no confirmed date.

What exists today is a long run of PC playtests going back to late 2024 — roughly ten so far, each a scheduled multi-day window rather than a persistent live server — expanding from tower dungeons into a full 3D Overworld with raid-style world events, proximity voice chat and a growing loot/crafting system. There’s no dedicated status page; the developer posts playtest schedules and patch notes to the Steam news hub for app 2321890, runs the official Discord (discord.gg/sMYZC6fU2a, verified against two separate Steam announcement posts), and is reachable directly through Steam Discussions, where he has personally traced player-reported issues — including a Windows security block and a spotty “failed to connect” message — down to specific causes. Because every session so far has been a time-boxed test build rather than the finished game, “server” issues right now are playtest bugs to report, not evidence of a live outage.

Maintenance, queues, and real outages

Three different things get reported as "Swordeye is down," and only one of them is an outage. The chart above is the fastest way to tell them apart, once there's data on it:

A real outage

Reports spike hard within an hour, then decay as the problem is fixed. Nobody announced it in advance.

Scheduled maintenance

Reports climb steadily and stay flat for the length of the window, because everyone hits the same wall at the same time and keeps hitting it.

A login queue

Matchmaking/login reports climb while server-connection reports stay low, and a Steam player count (if shown above) holds flat instead of dropping. The servers are up and full, not down — waiting is the only fix.

Announced maintenance would show up at the studio's own status channel or the official Discord before it shows up here.

If it's only broken for you

Most "is it down" moments aren't outages. Work down this list before assuming the servers are the problem — it's ordered by how often each one turns out to be the answer, not by how easy it is.

  1. 01

Check the report count above first

It costs nothing and it settles the question. A flat report count means other players are getting in fine, and everything below is worth your time. A spike means it isn't you, and none of it is.

  2. 02

    Verify the game files

In Steam: right-click Swordeye → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. A partial patch is the single most common cause of a game that launches and then fails to connect.

  3. 03

Restart the whole chain, in order

Game, then your launcher/Steam, then your router. People almost always do the first and skip the third — a stale router NAT table produces exactly the symptom people report as "servers down."

  4. 04

Rule out a VPN or restrictive network

A VPN fails matchmaking far more often than it fixes it, and so does a corporate or campus network that blocks the UDP ports a game server needs. If you're on a network you don't administer, that's the likely answer.

  5. 05

If it crashes rather than fails to connect, treat it as a crash

A game that starts and then dies, rather than never connecting, is usually a local fault — most often graphics drivers or overlay software, not the servers.

Swordeye server status: common questions

Is Swordeye down right now?

Swordeye isn't playable yet, so there's no service to be down. This page starts counting reports the moment the servers come up — no rebuild needed.

Is there an official Swordeye status page?

No dedicated status or uptime page exists. Swordeye is built by a solo developer, castavernas, under ALX Theory LLC, who runs outage and playtest communication through the Steam news hub for app 2321890, the official Discord (discord.gg/sMYZC6fU2a), and the @sword_eye account linked from the game's own site (swordeye.io). That developer also replies personally to almost every Steam Discussions post, which is where several of the error pages on this site come from directly.

Where are Swordeye playtests, outages, or maintenance announced?

The Steam news hub for app 2321890 posts playtest start/end windows and patch notes, and the official Discord has an announcements channel with more time-sensitive updates. There's no separate maintenance calendar — the developer has said tower servers run only during scheduled playtest windows rather than continuously, so "is it down" outside a playtest window usually just means the servers aren't open yet.

What server regions does Swordeye support?

The developer's own Update 0.6.60 patch notes describe a per-region boss health pool "eg. NA/EU/ASIA," confirming at least those three regions have run during playtests. There's no published permanent region list yet since the game hasn't fully launched — region availability during a test is announced alongside that test's Steam news post.

Why does Swordeye say it can't connect to the servers, or do nothing when I try to enter the tower?

In at least one documented case this happened while the servers were actually up and other players were online — the developer traced it to the game failing to fetch your inventory or the server list from Steam on launch, not a real outage. Relaunching the game resolved it for the player who reported it.

Will my progress carry over between Swordeye playtests, or does it wipe?

Not fully confirmed either way. Asked directly in Steam Discussions whether Swordeye would use a regular wipe system like other extraction games, the developer said there are no plans for regular wipes of gear or core character progression once the game is live — only seasonal resets of leaderboards, with a reward for that season's top players. That answer is about the eventual live game rather than a guarantee about any specific playtest build, and each playtest so far has been a separate demo build rather than a persistent server.

Does Swordeye require an Epic Games account or Epic Online Services?

No. Asked about this directly, the developer said Swordeye runs entirely through Steam — Steam inventory, Steam networking, Steam leaderboards and achievements — with custom backend infrastructure on AWS behind that. The Epic Online Services "Shared" package ships inside the build for engine reasons, but the developer says the actual EOS online-service plugins are disabled, and no Epic account is needed to play.

Has Swordeye fully launched, or is this still testing?

Still unreleased and still testing. Steam lists Swordeye as "Coming Soon" with only a "2026" release window and no specific date, and every server session so far — the game was called Swordai until a February 2026 rename — has been a scheduled weekend playtest rather than a persistent live game. Treat any "servers down" report right now as a playtest-build issue, not a launch-day outage.

Incident history

Auto-logged from player reports over the last 30 days. An incident is a run of hours with at least six different players reporting in each, the same signal the verdict above responds to — so one frustrated player pressing a button repeatedly can never put an incident on this list.

No incidents logged in the last 30 days.
