Rust shows a "Steam not open?" error at startup.

What to try
- 01Close Rust and Steam, then start Steam and Rust again. If that fails, restarting your computer is also suggested.Confirmed
- 02Update Steam: with Rust closed, choose Steam, then "Check for Steam client updates", and restart Steam if prompted.Confirmed
- 03Opt out of Steam betas: with Rust closed, open Steam, then Settings, and under "Beta participation" click Change and pick "NONE - opt out". Apply any updates, restart Steam and open Rust.Confirmed
- 04Verify Rust's files: right-click Rust in Steam, choose Properties, open Local Files and click "Verify integrity of game files".Confirmed
- 05As a last step, do a fresh install: delete the Rust folder entirely, then reinstall through Steam.Confirmed
