Login fails with "Too many login attempts from your address", often during a busy period, and gets worse the more you retry.

Jagex's support article, written for both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape, calls this a known error message commonly associated with periods of high traffic that may prevent players logging in. It says simply waiting a while will resolve it for the most part, and that repeated attempts can make it worse, so it recommends waiting at least 30 minutes between attempts. If waiting does not clear it, Jagex lists other routes: logging in through the Jagex Launcher or through Steam, trying a different account, trying a different connection, and using an official client rather than a third-party one.
