After the 1.0 update, entering any world, old or new, online or offline, sits on an endless black loading screen with no error message.

Likely on your side, not an outage. One Steam Discussions thread (17 posts, marked solved) says a Steam blocklist of more than 1024 users stops worlds from loading, and unblocking some fixed it for two players. Players there say Keen mentioned this on Discord; we found no post from Keen on Steam saying so.

It is not the only cause: one player on an AMD card with an empty blocklist was still stuck. A separate Linux report says the game black-screens and hangs after Hotfix 1.0.0.2, with one reply.

    Check your Steam blocked-user count and unblock some to get under 1024

    In Steam, open your friends list's blocked players and see how many you have. In the Steam thread, one player with over 1,600 blocked unblocked half and the game loaded, and another with 1,831 said it worked too. They relay that Keen said on Discord that more than 1024 blocked users can stop the game connecting. That comes from players, not a Keen post on Steam, and Keen was reportedly still working on it.

    Linux: a black screen and hang after Hotfix 1.0.0.2 has one report

    One Linux player (RTX 4070, Linux Mint) says two systems black-screen on launch and hang after Hotfix 1.0.0.2, despite newer drivers, a newer kernel and several Proton versions including Experimental. One reply says the game works on Arch and that GE Proton 11-3 fixed the launch problems for them, for the 1.0 launch rather than this hotfix. Unverified for this case.

    No confirmed fix yet; this page will be updated. If your blocked list is under 1024 and the loading screen still never ends, you're in the same position as the AMD player whose empty blocklist didn't help. Keen's support team takes reports through the link in the Hotfix 1.0.0.2 changelog.
