Enshrouded "No compatible graphics device found" (fix)

Enshrouded won't start and shows "No compatible graphics device found", often with a graphics card that should run it.

This is a local graphics driver problem, not a server outage. Enshrouded needs Vulkan, and in the two Steam Discussions threads we read the fix was a driver reinstall or update. Both threads are old (2023 and 2024); we found nothing from the 1.0 era.
One thread's log shows "Failed to load library: VK_KHR_dynamic_rendering; quitting". A reply in the other points to Vulkan picking an integrated GPU on machines with both integrated and dedicated graphics. Keen hasn't posted a fix, and several players there still failed and asked for refunds.
Fix it, step by step
Reinstall your Vulkan or GPU driver with the clean install option
In a 2023 Steam thread, a player on an RTX 3080 Ti had this error and the log (
enshrouded.login the game folder) ended with "Failed to load library: VK_KHR_dynamic_rendering; quitting". Installing the Vulkan driver with the installer's "clean install" option fixed it. In the 1.0 era, a reply in a thread about the game using only integrated graphics also suggests a clean driver reinstall, with no result posted.Update your graphics driver from the manufacturer's site
In a January 2024 thread (marked solved), a player on a GTX 1070 Ti with a fresh Windows 10 install fixed it by installing the newer NVIDIA driver released that day from NVIDIA's support site, after closing Steam. Reinstalling the game and verifying files hadn't helped them.
On a PC with integrated and dedicated graphics, check which GPU Vulkan uses
A reply in the 2024 thread links an NVIDIA support article on Vulkan apps failing on AMD processors that have integrated and dedicated graphics, where Vulkan detects the integrated graphics as primary. It didn't fix it for everyone in that thread. A separate 1.0-era poster says the game only uses their integrated graphics, and that forcing it onto the Nvidia GPU gives "can't initialize the Nvidia". That is a different message, with no fix posted.

No confirmed fix yet; this page will be updated. In the 2024 thread, at least four players tried the suggestions, still got the error, and requested refunds or contacted support.
