A dedicated-server session runs laggy, drops players, or doesn't show up with a player count in the official Discord the way a healthy one does.
The developers confirmed this happened for real during the game's most recent public playtest, its first on Unreal Engine 5 after moving off UE4: "we had a lot of issues with the dedicated servers and performance... hence the large amount of hotfixes deployed." That's a direct statement from the studio's own Steam account, not a player guess. What isn't confirmed is whether the same instability carried into the Early Access launch — the developers said in the same post that they hoped to have it smoothed out for the next playtest. Until there's a specific pattern of post-launch reports to point at, treat this page as background on why server trouble wouldn't be surprising for this game specifically, not as proof it's currently happening.
