SEED is in Early Access

The head start is open, so the servers are live and the reports on this page are real players hitting real servers. Queues and login failures are normal in this window and are not the same thing as an outage: a queue means the servers are up and full.

About SEED's servers

SEED is Klang Games’ persistent, player-driven MMO life sim, not to be confused with the many other things named “seed” — Klang has stated directly that it has no connection to the unrelated 2006 MMO of the same name. Players act as “Cultivators” guiding bio-engineered “Seedlings” through full lives — working, aging, forming relationships, and dying — on Avesta, a single persistent shard built on Improbable’s SpatialOS, where the simulation keeps running for everyone even while you’re offline.

SEED entered Early Access on July 21, 2026, exclusively through Klang’s own standalone SEED Launcher (seed.game) on PC and Mac, priced from $29.99. A Steam listing (app 2938800) already exists but is still marked “coming soon” with a fall-2026 target and no fixed date; Klang’s own site says Early Access progress “carries over seamlessly” once that version ships. Because Steam’s public player-count endpoint has no number to report until the Steam build actually goes live, any Steam-based signal will read SEED as unreleased even though real players have been on Klang’s live servers since July 21 — a distinction worth keeping straight before assuming the game itself isn’t running.

There’s no third-party status farm or specialist site covering SEED yet, but Klang runs its own official status page (status.seed.game) tracking uptime for its Game Deployments and infrastructure, alongside patch notes and incident write-ups on its “News from Avesta” blog — including a detailed September 2026 post working through ongoing in-game market/delivery reliability problems.

Maintenance, queues, and real outages

Three different things get reported as "SEED is down," and only one of them is an outage. The chart above is the fastest way to tell them apart, once there's data on it:

A real outage

Reports spike hard within an hour, then decay as the problem is fixed. Nobody announced it in advance.

Scheduled maintenance

Reports climb steadily and stay flat for the length of the window, because everyone hits the same wall at the same time and keeps hitting it.

A login queue

Matchmaking/login reports climb while server-connection reports stay low, and a Steam player count (if shown above) holds flat instead of dropping. The servers are up and full, not down — waiting is the only fix.

Announced maintenance would show up at the studio's own status channel or the official Discord before it shows up here.

If it's only broken for you

Most "is it down" moments aren't outages. Work down this list before assuming the servers are the problem — it's ordered by how often each one turns out to be the answer, not by how easy it is.

  1. 01

Check the report count above first

It costs nothing and it settles the question. A flat report count means other players are getting in fine, and everything below is worth your time. A spike means it isn't you, and none of it is.

  2. 02

    Verify the game files

In Steam: right-click SEED → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. A partial patch is the single most common cause of a game that launches and then fails to connect.

  3. 03

Restart the whole chain, in order

Game, then your launcher/Steam, then your router. People almost always do the first and skip the third — a stale router NAT table produces exactly the symptom people report as "servers down."

  4. 04

Rule out a VPN or restrictive network

A VPN fails matchmaking far more often than it fixes it, and so does a corporate or campus network that blocks the UDP ports a game server needs. If you're on a network you don't administer, that's the likely answer.

  5. 05

If it crashes rather than fails to connect, treat it as a crash

A game that starts and then dies, rather than never connecting, is usually a local fault — most often graphics drivers or overlay software, not the servers.

SEED server status: common questions

Is SEED down right now?

As of 01:26 UTC, 0 players have reported a problem in the last 15 minutes — counted as people, so repeat taps from one person don't inflate it. This page updates on every load.

Does SEED (Klang Games) have an official status page?

Yes — status.seed.game, run on Atlassian Statuspage, tracks Game Deployments, the Portal, seed.game itself, and the underlying Google Cloud infrastructure the simulation runs on, with a 90-day uptime history and an incident log. As of this page's last check (September 23, 2026) it showed all systems operational with no incidents logged since at least September 9. Compare it against the report count on this page: if reports here spike while status.seed.game still says operational, that's usually a local or launcher-side problem rather than a wider outage.

Where does Klang actually announce SEED maintenance, outages, or major bugs?

Three places, in practice: status.seed.game for live incident status, the "News from Avesta" blog on seed.game for patch notes and dev posts (including standalone write-ups on specific problems, like the September 11, 2026 post on market reliability), and the official @seedmmo account on X. There's no dedicated support knowledge base yet — Klang was still hiring for a Player Support Manager role as of this check, so expect announcements rather than a searchable help center.

Is SEED out on Steam, or only playable through Klang's own launcher?

Only through Klang's own standalone SEED Launcher (seed.game) for now. SEED entered Early Access there on July 21, 2026, with a $29.99/€29.99 entry price; Klang's own site says "We're bringing SEED to Steam later this year. Your progress carries over seamlessly," and outlets reported a fall 2026 target, matching Steam's own store page, which still lists SEED (app 2938800) as "coming soon" with no fixed date. That gap matters for this page specifically: Steam's public player-count API reports SEED as unreleased (it has no concurrent-player number to show) because the Steam version hasn't shipped, even though real players have been on real Klang-run servers since July 21. Treat "unreleased" on any Steam-count widget as being about the Steam release only, not about whether SEED itself is live.

Does SEED run on regional servers, or one shared world?

One single persistent shard, not region-selectable servers. Steam's own store description calls it a "single-shard MMO" where "everyone shares the same world," and Klang built it on SpatialOS (Improbable's cloud-based simulation platform) specifically to keep one continuously running world rather than splitting players across regional copies. There's no server browser or region picker in the launcher.

Will my SEED progress get wiped, and does it carry over to the Steam release?

Closed Beta was wiped once, on July 16, 2026, right before Early Access opened (though Pollen currency purchased during Closed Beta carried over into EA accounts). Going forward, Klang's own site states plainly that Early Access progress will carry to the Steam version without a reset: "We're bringing SEED to Steam later this year. Your progress carries over seamlessly." No further Early Access wipe has been announced as of this check.

I got an error during login or Seedling creation — is that a known bug?

Possibly, and it may already be fixed. Klang's 0.3.0 patch (the Early Access launch build) specifically called out a false "Error while creating Seedling" message and an incorrect "no seedling slots" error, plus replaced a "cryptic technical message" on failed world connections with the real error. An earlier patch (2.11, June 30, 2026, pre-EA) separately fixed a crash that could trap accounts in a login crash loop. See this site's dedicated pages for what each looked like and whether it's still happening on the current build.

Is this SEED the same as the 2006 MMO Seed, or any other game called Seed?

No. Klang Games has stated directly that its SEED is "not connected to, or a remake of" the 2006 MMO Seed made by Runestone Game Development, and it has no relation to the many other unrelated products, files, or games that share the generic word "seed." This page and every error page linked from it are specifically about Klang Games' persistent MMO on the planet Avesta (Steam app 2938800).

Does SEED have a real, official Discord?

Yes — the "SEED Cultivators" Discord at discord.gg/seedgame is linked directly from Klang's own official site and independently confirmed via the game's public server listing (over 13,000 members as of this check). It's a first-party community channel, not a fan-run lookalike.

Incident history

Auto-logged from player reports over the last 30 days. An incident is a run of hours with at least six different players reporting in each, the same signal the verdict above responds to — so one frustrated player pressing a button repeatedly can never put an incident on this list.
